About GPX Viewer
GPX Viewer is a free, privacy-first way to open and analyse GPS track files in your browser. It is made by a named developer at a registered company — not an anonymous side project.
Who makes it
GPX Viewer is built by João Silveira, founder of bithaus.tech, Unipessoal Lda. — a software company registered in Portugal. bithaus.tech also makes speedometer.app, a GPS speedometer app shipping on the iOS App Store. A real company and a shipped product stand behind this tool; if something is wrong, there is a person to email and a track record to check.
Why it exists
Most people who record a run, ride, hike or sail end up with a GPX file and nowhere simple to look at it without creating an account or handing the file to a server. GPX Viewer exists to fix that: drop a file, see the route, the elevation, the speed and the replay — and move on. It is deliberately private. Your file is read directly on your device with the W3C File API and parsed in the browser; it is never uploaded to any server. There are no accounts and no usage limits.
What's free, and how it's funded
Everything is free. There is no premium tier and no paywall today — every feature, from the viewer to the PDF report to the format converters, is available to everyone. The site carries anonymous, aggregate usage analytics (page views and feature clicks — never your file or its contents) and, honestly, it exists partly to introduce people to bithaus.tech's paid iOS app, speedometer.app. That cross-promotion is how a free tool like this is sustainable. We would rather tell you that plainly than pretend there is no business behind it.
