Open a GPX file in Wahoo ELEMNT

A Wahoo ELEMNT gets routes through its companion app — either imported as a GPX in the app, or synced automatically from a linked service like Komoot, Ride with GPS or Strava.

Steps

  1. Open the ELEMNT companion app. On your phone, open the Wahoo ELEMNT app paired to your device.
  2. Add the route. Either import the .gpx through the app’s routes section, or add it via a linked service (Komoot / Ride with GPS / Strava routes).
  3. Sync the ELEMNT. The route syncs to the head unit; start it from the routes / “Take Me To” menu on the device.

Quirks & limits

  • Wahoo leans on linked platforms — connecting Komoot or Ride with GPS is often the smoothest path.
  • Very large or complex routes can take a moment to sync to the device.

See the route before you upload it

Not sure the file is the right one? Drop it into the viewer first — you'll see the full track on a map with distance, elevation and speed. Nothing is uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Can I load a GPX onto a Wahoo ELEMNT?

Yes. Import the GPX in the ELEMNT companion app, or sync it from a linked service like Komoot or Ride with GPS, then it syncs to the device.

Does the ELEMNT read a GPX directly over USB?

The supported path is the companion app or a linked service; check the current Wahoo app for any direct-file option.
